Some people like the easy route, and some people like a challenge, and Steve "The Glove' Millikin is definitely the latter. Not many people choose their first purpose built race car to be a blown injected centre steer altered, but then not many people would come back from kicking the rods out of said altered on their first day out either. The nickname is one you will have to ask crew chief Trevor Kitney about, and while you're there, ask him how the hell he tuned the glove to low 7's with one of the shittiest superchargers known to man, not really what you would expect to find on a blown alcohol altered in the year 2019.

The altered had its share of success, but Steve's new ride is its polar opposite. For one, it has doors and his seating position isn't perched up high in the centre, rather down at ground level (and she sits super low) tucked in behind the tiniest of windscreens, obstructed in part by the monster 14-71 huffer that rises from the bonnet of the classic 34 Chevy Master bodylines, albeit squished and wedged for aerodynamic advantage. Sourced out of Perth, and previously branded "The Hitman", the grey hue was the first thing to go, replaced by the classic candy apple red hot rod color so prevalent on this style and shape of vehicle. Dart block and heads provide the bones for the 6 second capable combo and the Mark Williams modular 9" out back mean she's future proofed for whatever power Trev decides to throw at her. One of a bunch of new cars to hit the track this season, Steve's new ride is by far one of the sexiest, and as you read this he would have taken his first laps in her in early season testing, hoping to be ready for Kumeu Classic Car and Hot Rod Festival Wild Bunch Wars in January at Masterton Motorplex.

GSS Performance and ANCRA provide the backing, with a crew which consists of whoever Steve can convince to help, with the one constant being Trev Kitney and Steve's wife Sandra. The learning curve will be steep, but then so was the altered so don't be surprised if Steve and the gorgeous 34 are contenders right off the bat.
