Steve's started racing in 1977 with a T bucket at Thunder Park. After a 33 year spell, he returned with a Ford Falcon Sprint in 2015. He won both the IHRA and NZDRA Super Sedan titles in 2018, before stepping up the combo and moving into Top Street. He once again topped the NZDRA points series come seasons end. Steve then had Paralax Race Cars construct a new chassis under a fibreglass 1965 Falcon Sprint body, to house a 521 Brad Anderson Hemi backed by a B&J/Quickdrive transmission.

2025 started out well for Steve with a 6.276 PB at NAPA Auto Parts Dragway. A long held desire to race overseas then saw Steve start an Australian campaign. First up was a new PB of 6.261 competing at the Sydney Dragway Jamboree. Next meeting was Dragway at the Bend where transmission problems reared their head. It was then on to the Nitro Champs in Sydney. Steve top qualified with his first 5, a 5.999, in Pro Mod and then progressed through to the final. A broken oil pump fitting during the burnout meant that he could not contest the final, but he still got to collect the runner-up's silver christmas tree. Then it was onto the Winternationals at Willowbank Raceway in Queensland, just the biggest drag meeting outside the USA. With everything looking good, a fuel shutoff problem in eliminations put the burst panels out taking the windscreen with it. Everything is fixed and good to go at the Brisbane Jamboree and hopefully 3 more meetings after that.
