When I first started asking around to see who would be interested in attending Wild Bunch Wars, it soon became apparent that although the class rules allow supercharged, nitrous or N/A combos, very few options were available as far as the last two variants went. In fact as the only N/A car in the field I reached out to Steve to provide back up, and bolster, or should I say double the naturally aspirated ranks. Steve was keen as, but.. and its a reasonably big but, he proceeded to inform me he had recently purchased a blower!! Not only had he purchased a blower but a big one, a 16-71 to be precise set to bolt on top of not his previous Ford combo but a 521 cube BAE Hemi of all things.

Steve's Ford Falcon Sprint has good pedigree, having won both the IHRA and NZDRA Super Sedan titles in the same year before stepping up the combo last season. Moving into Top Street his season started off with PB numbers in the 8.1 range but never really improved from there although he once again topped the points come seasons end. So for the 3rd season in a row the Old School Racing Team is set to step up, and a mighty step up it will be, and the Hemi will be backed by a B&J/Quickdrive unit with what else but naturally a ford 9" rear.

Wairarapa Automotive and Engineering, along with Maungariki Lime and Minerals are on board for the season although with the combo he's about to dump in the poor old Coon, he might be best served chasing a tyre sponsor quicksmart. While it may be touch and go if we see Steve at Wild Bunch Wars with so much to do, if we are lucky enough then make sure you grab a spot by the fence because its going to be wild either way.
