Kumeu Classic Car and Hot Rod Festival Top Alcohol and Top Door Slammer Challenge

The Kumeu Classic Car and Hot Rod Festival Top Alcohol and Top Door Slammer Challenge held at Meremere Dragway saw six competitors front for the Top Doorslammer Challenge.
A hot track saw no representaive times set in qualfying and conditions were no better for the eliminations. The first pairing, between Mark Bardsley in the Mequir's Camaro and Squig Miles in the STA Falcon, saw Mark take the win with a 7.4 defeating an 8.9. Murray Smith, in Craig Brown's 57 Chev, struggled to a 16.9 to defeat Paul Johston in his Chevy powered truck who failed to get down the track. The race of the day saw Nigel Dixon lay down a 6.422 PB at 199.14 mph, in the Kruzin Kustoms BF Falcon, to defeat Cess Miller's 9.2 in his 59 Impala.
The second round saw Dixon as the hot bet to defeat Smith, but Nigel rolled the lights and failed to get a time, handing the win to Murray who cruised to a 22 second pass. Mark Bardsley had a solo and failed to reach the end of the track.
The final was between Murray Smith who had a best ET of 8.2 in qualifying and Mark Bardsley with a best ET of 7.4. Murray cut the best light, but Mark drove around him to take the win 7.9 to 8.4
