Qualifying for the 1st Auto Parts Wild Bunch Challenge saw a trail of destruction created. Tom Richardson broke the driveshaft in his 57 Chev. Mike Cload put a hole in the sump of his Musi powered Camaro. George McCutcheon had shifter problems on his second pass and burnt two pistons. Ryan Sheldon burnt a pushrod in his 58 Fury. Dean Scott had to repair a split fuel tank after his first qualifier, but came back to top qualify with a 6.988.

Dean Scott opened round 1 with a 7.204 win at 206.45 over Stephen Milliken, but it finished with chute problems and brake failure. He flew over the sand trap and came to rest a fair way past it. Dean was unhurt and the truck will see the track again after a few repairs. Tony Marsh broke out with a 7.166, but Mark Gapp drilled him at the start and took the win with a 7.446. Bobby Owens broke his gearbox and that allowed Gary Sinkinson to progress to round 2 with a 7.526.

With Scott out, round two became the A Bracket final between Gary Sinkinson and Mark Gapp. Mark scored a red light and Gary took out the challenge with a 7.618. The B Bracket final was also decided at the start line. Steve Carlsen rolled the lights and Josh Trybula took the win with a breaking out 7.058 in his 33 Willys.
