In a sea of Chevy powered Wild Bunchers, with the odd Hemi chucked in for good measure, one man stands alone and loyal to his brand of preference. While many choose to use the rear end made famous by said brand only one chooses to run an all Blue Oval combo and that man is none other than Mustang Murray Hartley

With over 35 years in the sport, the Hartley family name is a familiar one to many. Not only Murray, but sons Alan and Nathan have both been bitten by the bug and successful at different levels, and the Hartley bus has become a familiar sight at racetracks around the country. While Alan may be on the sidelines temporarily, Nathan is set to rejoin the fray behind the wheel of the family's second tube chassis 71 Mustang, a car that's been in the build longer than Ford have been making their famous 9 inch.

Murray's current ride, a 1971 Fastback was sourced across the ditch in mid 2017 as a roller and while its bright yellow hue remains, in the engine bay now resides a 351 Cleveland, topped with a 10-71 supercharger, Enderle injection and a thirst for methanol. The 9" rear end is a variant from Strange Engineering with 4:56 gear ratio and to date the combo has propelled Murray to within a whisker of a 7 second timeslip. His 8.0 best has been mixed in with the odd wild pass and a bunch of super cool wheel standing launches which make him the perfect addition to Wild Bunch Wars.

With support from his aptly named business Mustang Flooring along with Speedy Signs, Lucas Oil, LA-Wellington Shipping, North City Automotive and Proparts, Murray and wife Marie are looking to throw the proverbial cat amongst the pigeons and claim the odd bowtie scalp along the way.
