Towards the end of the 90's, NHRA in their wisdom created a class called Pro Stock Truck, trying to capitalise and expand on the already popular Pro Stock class of the era. Ford Chev and Dodge variants of the family size truck were offered up with full tube chassis small block based powerplants. The class was culled a mere few years later and an abundance of low run, basically new trucks suddenly had no place to race. While they have popped up all over the world in all manner of different configurations, Dean Scott's version which hit our shores as a roller late last summer, is now boasting a blown alcohol big block Chevy and probably couldn't be further from its naturally aspirated creation.

If the name Dean Scott sounds familiar then that's probably because his previous ride, "Harry" as it was affectionately called, has been a stalwart and fan favourite in Super Sedan for the past handful of seasons. The green HZ Holden Ute with the very same blown alcohol big block was a must see whenever its hunting idle could be heard in the staging lanes as it rolled round onto the track and the supercharger whine from 1000ft onwards was just simply bad to the bone. While the HZ finally dipped into the 7's and then lived there with regularity, the time came to move it on and replace it with a more purpose built race car. The Chev S10 truck was sourced across the ditch and debuted after a mad thrash at the end of last summer blasting its way as low as 7.25 at 190mph.

Knocking right on the door of the lower end of Wild Bunch's 6.99-7.99 limits, Dean and the S10 may be doing a lot of chasing at Wild Bunch Wars and the 540 cube, SSI 10-71 supercharged topped monster will have the power to drive around people in the deep, and you sure will hear him coming. With a Callies crank, Oliver rods and JE pistons filling the Dart block, he has all the go fast bits he needs to go rounds, and having come from Super Sedan has the smarts to understand the intricacies of DYO racing.

Rivers Speed and Spares, Penrite and Repco are long time supporters and a fantastic family and crew comprising, Nayna, Noah, John, Couper, Dave, Blair, Nads and Jerry amongst others are always there to support him, and who knows maybe come January 4th and 5th a former obsolete pro stock truck will find itself a new home in Wild Bunch.
