Ross Taylor: 1957 Chevrolet

Ross started racing a 1957 Chevrolet, that is now known as the Taylor & Taylor blue car, back in the mid 1980’s. He won several national events and set many records in that car, until the 2007 season when the car was handed to his son Jason. Ross and his team have purchased the Sarkis Brothers Top Doorslammer from Australia and have been putting the car, now known as the Taylor & Taylor black car, together since it arrived in NZ late 05-06.
The signage and paint was expertly changed by Frank Bogart to the Taylor & Taylor logo.
Ross hunted around Australia and the USA for an engine and settled on a Lucky Belleri/Steve Stanic combination, again from an Australian Top Doorslammer team. Since then a pile of spares and tools have been procured.
Ross, Jason, Alison and Andrea have been able to work with the Belleri/Stanic team over the last year or so to see how these things work. To be involved with a team competing in the Australian Top Doorslammer series was an invaluable experience.
Ross won Top Doorslammer at the 2013 IHRA Nationals and currently holds the national ET record for Top Doorslammer at 6.413.
