The name Trybula is a well known one in the custom car and drag racing scene, with both Josh and his old man Eddie being as influential as anyone in the lower North Island when it comes to some of the coolest builds around over the last decade or so. Always tough as nails and pushing the boundaries of what can and cant be done as far as street cars go, Josh's previous insane supercharged creations range from a mad Toyota Surf to the recently sold super cool 57 Chevy. Eddie has quite the collection too with his wheel standing blown BBC 57 Gasser to his early Monaro with the same motivation, a small portion of the collection based out of the All Fleet Services stable in Wellington.

With Josh's last racecar and the 57 having recently sold, the hunt was on for a new toy, and like many others it seems lately, it was sourced across the ditch. Now when you think of Willys coupes, everyone thinks of the iconic lines of a 41 but even more enduring to drag race enthusiasts is the earlier 33 model. Like the 41, most are seen in the form of straight axle Hemi powered Gassers but Josh's version is more low slung with the ponies provided via a 377 cube small block, with a monster 14-71 Hi-Helix supercharger bolted on top. A sheet metal 9" rear end gets those ponies via the powerglide auto, and by the time you read this Josh probably would have put down his first initial passes on his new ride in preparation for Kumeu Clasic Car and Hot Rod Festival Wild Bunch Wars in January.

All Fleet Services along with Powder Surfaces are on board, and the screaming smallblock could be one to watch. Josh sure as hell won't be afraid to mash the loud pedal, and the already proven set up shouldn't take long for the boys to get on top of. From somebody who has owned some of the most insane street cars seen in this country, his new purpose built dragcar is not just an extension of that legacy, but a whole new beast in itself and one none the less that will be an exciting ride.
